The City By Bike | The Urban Cycling Handbook
Articles
If you'd like to find out more about the city, bikes and me too, click
on the title of this box to go to my Articles page. This contains all
the articles I've written - and, as I keep on writing more of them, it
keeps on getting updated. I hope it will be both informative and
entertaining, though of course you'll be the best judge of that. Have a
look!

Forget Traffic Jams, Forget the Subway - Go By Bike!
It's a great way to go to work, and to get around town in general. It will
save you money - and make you healthier and happier too. If you want to know
more, you've come to the right place!
Twenty or so years ago, I decided I'd try cycling to work. I was 29
years old, hadn't ridden a bike since I was in my teens, and lived and
worked in one of the world's largest and busiest cities. So what made
me decide to do this?
Well, it was late spring or early summer and the weather was getting
warm; as the weather got warmer, so the trains, buses and subway system
got less and less bearable - hot, stuffy and downright unpleasant. They
could be pretty unreliable too. Or maybe my main inspiration was a
colleague who cycled in from an area of the city further from our
office than where I lived (ten miles to my eight, or thereabouts).
Whatever it was that most swayed me I'm not sure, but I decided to take
the plunge.
I got myself a free bike (which had belonged to my brother) and various
other bits and pieces I thought I'd be needing. I didn't bother with
any `proper' cycling stuff; I just wore shorts, a cotton T-shirt and
sneakers. I carried some work clothes and a towel with me, then
showered and changed at the office.
At first, I only planned to ride my bike in during the summer months,
and revert to public transport once the days began to shorten and the
weather to turn colder and wetter. It took me less than a week to
change my mind about that! I'd forgotten just how much I disliked the
experience of getting onto a crowded subway after work each evening,
and doing so once again really brought that home to me. So, I bought
some lights, clothes to keep me warm and dry (or as dry as you can be
on a bike in the rain) and continued to ride to work every day. And I
never stopped.
Over the years since then, more and more people have been doing the
same thing. In the US, in Britain, in Europe - the numbers of urban
cyclists is growing all the time. Why not join them? You'll soon find
it's a great way of getting to and from work, or just of getting around
in a town or city.
During my years of city cycling I've built up a wealth of knowledge and
experience. And now I've put all this knowledge and experience into The
Urban Cycling Handbook. It's packed with answers, information and
advice, including:
* The benefits of cycling in the city
* Answers to all those `What about...' questions you may have
* What makes a good city bike
* Other stuff you'll need - and stuff you'll get along just fine
without
* Making sure your bike's right for you
* Getting the most from your bike
* Cycling in a busy urban environment
* A glossary, so you'll know what I'm talking about!
* ...and much, much more
Would I have liked a book like this when I started riding my bike in
the city? Something easy and fun to read, which gave me all the
information I needed, including stuff I hadn't even thought about? You
bet I would!

If you'd like a FREE preview of what you'll find in this book, just
click the link below - I'll be happy to send you, with no obligation,
an excerpt from the book. It's the first couple of chapters, plus the
closing page - and the table of contents, so you'll see how much more
you'll get when you buy the book. The excerpt, like the book itself, is
in PDF format, so you'll need the Adobe Reader to view it.

If you've read this far, I'm sure you'll be wondering about how much
this book will cost you. I'll come to that soon enough, but first
here's some thoughts of other ways you can try to get the same
information. I reckon you could easily spend $50 or more on a
shelf-load of cycling magazines and look a load of stuff up on the
internet, and you still wouldn't have half the information that's
contained in this book. In other words, it would cost you a lot in
money, time and effort - and you'd still be no more than halfway there.
You could just go out and buy a cheap bike, then stop riding it because
it goes wrong or it's not good to ride - or you could buy a bike which
is way more expensive than you need. Either way you'd be throwing your
money away.
Here's a better idea. Just click the button below and you can download
your copy of The Urban Cycling Handbook in just a few minutes - at the
special introductory price of $20. Yes, that's right - $20 and all the
information you need will be at your fingertips, all laid out in a
clear, easy-to-read form. Compared with what you could be spending
that's an absolute steal.
But I'm not planning on selling this book at that price for very long.
Once I've sold the first thousand copies the price will go up to $27 -
and it'll still be a bargain at that price! After all, it could save
you from spending a load of money on a fancy bike and a heap of gear
that you don't really need - and that could be hundreds of dollars. So
$27 is still a great price for this book. But if you want to get it for
the intrductory price, you need to act now!
Buy this book, get on your bike and ride - you won't regret it!

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.
ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
